Brag alert!
A very surprised Migglet was delighted and overwhelmed to be awarded The Hall Trophy for the ‘Best Painting in Show’ at the Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey Exhibition in Torquay, what a wonderful boost that was towards the beginning of the year!
And a BIG thank you to all those of you who came along to the exhibition too! There was a huge variety of artwork to see and the beautiful historical barn was the perfect setting, if not a little chilly in February, hence the warm coat I was wearing! (If you’re going to win Best in Show, you might as well dress like a hairy hound?!)
Spring is Here!
We have recently hopped into March, another successful exhibition is over and the early February sunshine was so awfully welcome. Let’s hope Spring is soon bouncing along with it’s sun hat firmly in place!
If you’re a fan of Flamingos, a fliffy fluffy flaffy flirty ‘ Doris’ recently appeared at the end of my paintbrushes and is now listed on my site……
…. and when I helped to run an in-house pastel workshop for my lovely local village art group, a colourful, quirky, whimsical fluffball titled ‘Nosey Moo!’ was born….
A5 Greetings Cards
My recently introduced sets of A5 Greetings cards seem to have gone down well online (and at the exhibition) and some of my dancers cards are now also available in the gorgeous dancewear shop ‘Dance Today’ in Thornton-Cleveleys, UK.
*PS Fellow animal lovers reading this, I shall be adding NOSEY MOO and DORIS to a set of cards soon.
Happy to announce!…
You may not have heard of them, especially if you are not in the UK, but KNITTED KNOCKERS UK have finally just launched their website and I am thrilled to have been able to help them in a small way by designing and donating a ballerina painting to the charity.
All of the volunteer ‘Knockerettes’ make bespoke cotton knitted prosthetic knockers for ladies who have had mastectomies after cancer treatment (The silicone knockers supplied by the NHS are apparently incredibly heavy to wear and very uncomfortable, but the knitted knockers are soft, light and literally life changing for the ladies who receive them AND for their families when they see the huge boost in confidence gained by their happy recipients!)
This has been in the pipeline for some time now, I think possibly three years ago I was given the brief and then created the ballerina painting for the KKUK.
I felt the dancer I created had to show great strength, courage and grace, with her face pointing confidently towards the sunshine and I thought a crown made from the letters KKUK poised on her head instantly showed who she was proud of.
I was initially a ‘knocker knitter’ when the KKUK was founded a few years ago, but have since supported the wonderful work KKUK do for ladies AND their whole families and reading the testimonials is always a leaky eye moment.
It was an absolute pleasure to give them the copyright to the image in order for them to raise much needed funds for their charity.
DON’T FORGET!
