Commissions from £200
I work freehand from photographs in a variety of media therefore distance is no object as all relevant correspondence can be managed via email. Prices for commissions are dependent on a variety of factors, the time involved, size of artwork, medium, etc.
Although I specialise in paintings of dancers, I have been commissioned to paint brides and grooms for wedding and anniversary gifts, pastel portraits, horses and other animals in a variety of media as previously mentioned.
As well as working with a wide spectrum of glorious, rich colours, you will also see below that some of my work is monochrome.
I believe white on black OR black on white can be incredibly powerful and effective and naturally, will suit any home decor which may be worth considering when commissioning a painting, especially if the commission is a gift.
Photographs for Commissions
The photographs I work from are very important as they will be my ‘model’.
I require good, clear photographs, the more the merrier.
Please avoid out of focus or small photographs, the background is not important though.
Something about one or more of your photos will catch my eye, whether it’s the expression, character or pose, or all of the above, and you and I will work together to capture the true spirit of the subject.
The eyes are the windows to the soul and THE most important part in a portrait, therefore I do require clear photographs in natural light but not necessarily sunlight. It is important that I am able to clearly see the colour of the subject’s eyes.
N.B. I require very clear, close up photographs for portraits of people and animals but am happy to source my own reference photographs if necessary for commissions of wild animals etc. (As in the case of the running horse pictured below)
Please see below an example of my Painting of a Dancer titled ‘Ksenia’ from my ‘Less is More’ series and the original reference photograph of the stunning model and photographer, Ksenia Poulber. This was not a Commissioned Painting but I think it shows clearly the kind of photographs I love to work from and the resulting artwork.
Prices are on application as there are numerous factors to consider, i.e. size, medium, time etc.
You will see a small selection of my commissioned paintings below.
Do Commissions require payment prior to painting?
I require 50% of the commission payment, plus the final balance ( to include p&p ) on completion.
Price is dependent on a variety of factors, the time involved, size of artwork, medium, subject etc.
How long will it take to paint a commission?
Once you, the client and I, the artist, have agreed on all of the above factors, depending on my current workload, we will both have a clear idea on timescale.
